Spring Valley is the largest un-incorporated community which is located in the county of San Diego. It covers thirteen and a half square miles. The adobe and 3.5 acres of land were purchased by the Spring Valley Chamber of Commerce in the year 1940. The chamber was instrumental in getting the Adobe designated California State Historic Landmark in 1958 and became known as the Bancroft Ranch House. It was then opened as a museum.
